Prida Guida remembers Luciano Prida Sr.
“We are very proud that Luciano Prida Sr., was an alumnus of the University of Florida’s Fisher School of Accounting,” said Dr. Gary McGill, Associate Dean and Director of the Fisher School. “His dedicated service to the community and the accounting profession represents the very best of our ideals.”
Prida earned a BSBA from the University of Florida in 1949. In 1957, he founded Luciano Prida & Company, P.A. (now Prida Guida & Company, P.A.), a Florida association of certified public accountants that has served the Tampa region for more than 50 years. Prida’s son, Luciano Jr. (BSBA ’72), is the firm’s president, and grandson, Andres (MAcc ’00), is a shareholder.
To honor his service and excellence in accounting, Prida’s family established the Luciano Prida Sr. Term Professorship, which provides research support and resources for its faculty recipient. The professorship was established in 2006.
Prior to his successful accounting career, Prida was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army. He earned three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Arrowhead in combat during World War II.
“Luciano Prida Sr. served as a role model for all UF students, and his memory will live on forever at the University of Florida through the Luciano Prida Sr. Professorship,” Dr. McGill said.
Prida is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice; children Luciano Jr., Xavier, Alicia, Monica and Justin; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Rose.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m., with interment services to follow at 3 p.m., at Tampa’s Garden of Memories Chapel of Light (4207 E. Lake Avenue).
For acts of condolence, the family’s preference is for contributions to be made in his name to:
